Wilbanks verbally commits to Hinds CC for baseball

After starring on the baseball field on many occasions for St. Aloysius, catcher Tristan Wilbanks has committed to playing baseball at Hinds Community College next season.

Wilbanks received multiple offers after  his 2020 junior season but ultimately decided that Hinds would be the best place for him.

“I went around the state this summer to seven different junior colleges who had offered me to come play, one of them being Hinds,” Wilbanks said. “As soon as I got there I knew their facilities couldn’t be matched and I knew they were the best. I would have hated to have to pass their exit to go to a different college further away knowing I was passing an outstanding program which is only 45 minutes away,” he added.

“I really admire their coaching staff and the statistics of them moving guys on to the next level ( Division 1). They have a weight program and a weight training coach specifically for the baseball team which is super important to me and overall development. They have a great record of going deep into the playoffs and regional appearances along with World Series appearances and I just knew that Hinds was for me and that they could develop me and get me to where I want to go. That’s why I decided to commit to become and Eagle.”

Wilbanks recently finished a productive season where he had a .362 batting average, 23 RBIs and pitched 38 innings under head coach Sid Naron.

Wilbanks still has one season left with the Flashes and he is also the starting quarterback for the football team.
