VWSD explains the process for Covid information on students and staff

Unconfirmed reports on social media are claiming COVID cases in the VWSD. A conversation with district media contact Christi Kilroy garnered the process the district will use to communicate COVID information to the public.

When asked directly to comment on any COVID cases in the district, Kilroy explained she does not have the information at this point in time.

Kilroy stated in an email, “As you know, we are not able to discuss personal employee or student information. We will be reporting any known COVID-19 cases to the MS Department of Health on Monday of each week (for the previous week) and they will include our numbers in their reporting. Here is a link to the MSDH school COVID reporting from last year: https://msdh.ms.gov/msdhsite/_static/14,0,420,972.html.  I am uncertain if they will continue reporting on this page or create a new one for the 2021-22 school year.”

The district released a return to in-person instruction plan for Fall, 2021. The site also presents parents with a COVID-19 parent tool which “will allow you to explore positive test and exposure scenarios and view samples of letters you may receive if your student has tested positive for COVID-19 or been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus.”
