HeartKids is for teens too …

You might not have met another young person with a heart condition before. Believe us when we say you are not alone! Teenagers have told us that one of the best things about what we do is having the chance to chat to other young people who understand. What are you waiting for? Come and join us!

We also offer lots of information and support so you can find out more about your condition and take control of your own health. Come to one or all of the events we hold during the year. They are a great way to meet other young people, try new things and build up your confidence.

MyHeart – website for young people
Please take the time to visit MyHeart our new site for young people living with a heart condition. MyHeart  explores a range of topics relevant to people aged 13 to 22 and also has some really useful resources for their parents.  At all times, MyHeart gives specific consideration to how a heart condition may impact many of the topics relevant to young people including travel, relationships and body image and more.  Please note that where we’ve covered issues of a medical nature we’ve worked with experts to ensure accuracy of medical advice and information.

MyHeart has a section called The Beat where feature articles on specific topics will be addressed by guest writers. A closed forum where young people with CHD can safely chat online with their peers about topics important to them is also a part of the new site.  And of course there is loads of information you just won’t want to miss!   Go and get the facts on living with a heart condition.

The intention is for the site content to grow considerably over the coming months & years, if you are aged 13- 22 living with CHD and would like to contribute to the site please register today.

HeartKids Australia Teen Camp
HeartKids Australia holds an annual Teen Camp open to 13-17 year olds with a heart condition from all over Australia. Includes lots of fun social activities and sessions where you find out how to talk to people about your heart condition. Come away with us on an amazing weekend away with other teenagers with heart conditions.

HeartKids Australia Teen Camp Champions
Camp Champions are people with a heart condition aged 18 and over who have been to camp before and understand what it’s like to live with a heart condition. Their role is to mentor the younger campers and help them make the most of the experience, and they in turn will be mentored by the Camp Supervisor and learn more about being a role model themselves.

Mentor at Tween Camp
As with the Teen Camp Champions, Tween Camp Mentors are aged 18 and over and their role is to mentor the younger campers and help them make the most of the experience, and they in turn will be mentored by the Camp Supervisor and learn more about being a role model themselves.

Volunteering with HeartKids
HeartKids offers a wealth of opportunities for you to become involved.  From mentoring and support roles at our camps, fundraising, supporting one of our functions, packing gift bags, through to secretarial, mail outs and office work to help our small team out, all of it is much appreciated.

Quarterly Adolescent Catch-Ups/Events
HeartKids holds quarterly adolescent catch-ups/events ranging from information sessions, shared meals to organised activities. So if you are between 13 and 18 why not come along.
